I'm Back!

I've been absent in every sense of the word for the last couple of months and have missed sharing some truly great stuff, but I'm very much back and tres keen. I start with this visual treat from Studio Dumbar which is part of the arresting identity created for this year's European Design Festival. You can read more at Creative Review.

eh?

I just noticed that one of my favourite and most admired design studios' website is being updated and I thought the holding page was too good not to be shared.

Homework

Warsaw-based studio Homework are next on show at Kemistry Gallery. It's their first London show and over 50 of their posters will be on display. They make some really interesting stuff and it's well worth a look.

Going to watch this band at the Electric Ballroom on 24th March.
Check them out on MySpace.

The Middle East

Gorgeous. Blood by The Middle East

The buggers.

A couple of weekends ago I was sitting in a cafe talking to a friend and we decided that we need to create a gorgeous and well designed year planner because all existing ones we've ever seen are ugly as hell. It looks like Crispin Finn had the same idea and beat us to it. They did a great job too. You can read more at Creative Reveiw.

Live At Your Local

Nice flyer I picked up this week. Cool Typography. Live at Your Local is a weekly email listing of music, entertainment and community events in Hackney and Islington and close by.

BQ motherf**king E

Sick. Having set aside his ambitious attempt on writing an all conquering, beautiful and genius album for every U.S. state, Sufan Stevens' latest project - The BQE - is a soundtrack for his film on the history of the Brooklyn-Queens Expressway. I know we're not very far in, but this is by far my favourite piece of design so far in 2010, awesome type, great image, perfect fusion. I haven't purchased it yet and don't know who the artist is (may be Sufjan himself for all I know), but I'm extremely excited to listen to it, watch the film, read the comic and to see undoubtedly further than the cover.

Losing The Plot

Danish design duo Hvass & Hannibal have an upcoming exhibition at Kemistry Gallery from 15 January through 27 February. Definitely worth checking out. Hvass and Hannibal produce hypnotic and beautiful pattern apparently derived from the collation and sorting of random data.

Another Year, Another Colour

So here we are, 2010. This, according to Pantone, is the official 'Colour of the Year' 2010 - Turquoise 15-5519. Good choice I think.
