Poor. Old. Tired. Horse.

Unfortunately it was the last day of this exhibition at the ICA today so this post may seem near pointless. However it was great, and if you are not familiar with 'Concrete Poetry' then it's well worth looking into. Although a small exhibition, there was a wide array of really varied work including pieces by Dom Sylvester Houdedard and Janice Kerbel (above). You can find out more about the show and it's exhibitors at www.ica.org.uk

Two Weeks

Awesome but pretty disturbing video for Grizzly Bear's track Two Weeks'. Freaks me out so much I don't really like watching it. Don't know why I posted it really. Is a gorgeous song though. Enjoy!

Off The Wall

I went to the Private View of Illustrator Richard Hogg's first solo show last week at East London's Concrete Hermit Gallery. Richard used to work at Airside and is the sickest of penmen around. Well worth a visit. You can read more at Creative Review.

'Do Lectures'

The good guys at howies have once again planned their second annual series of ‘Do Lectures’ hosted at Cardigan Bay, West Wales on the 3rd to the 7th of September 2009.

The ‘Do Lectures’ has attracted an eclectic mix of speakers who plan to inspire others and want to make a difference through big ideas, new innovations and life experiences. This year Do Lectures has a farmer who drove his tractor to parliament to change GM food, an illustrator from San Francisco who did the titles for Spike Jonzes new film, a man who is trying to change how concrete is made, a man who cycled around the world for 4 years, a man who started a school in Denmark based on chaos… plus lots of others interesting things.

To celebrate this year’s lectures, howies have commissioned a commemorative T-shirt to mark the event. One lucky purchaser will receive a prize event ticket, valued at £1000; with their 'Do Lecture' T-shirt.

The T-shirts are sold at £15 which means they are sold at no profit. They are available to purchase from howies.co.uk.

Speaking of Haunch

For anyone who doesn't know, the Haunch of Venison is a really great gallery. There is a Haunch in London, Berlin, Zurich and New York and each I've been to is in housed in an amazing building, completely different from the others but somehow they all seem to breathe the same light, clean, exciting and inviting atmosphere. The London Haunch has recently moved premises and I haven't managed to make it to the new one yet so am excited that the House of Cards exhibition is scheduled to be held there.

Also they have had some gorgeous promo material and catalogues designed for them over the years, by design studio Spin.

House Of Cards

The housing and homelessness charity Shelter have invited 52 of the country’s top artists to design a playing card for a unique exhibition that forms a part of their House of Cards campaign.

They have opened up the competition to the general public for the chance to complete the pack and design the last card - 8 of Clubs.

Closing date is August 21st and the pack will be exhibited at the awesome Haunch of Venison gallery.
